Taiwan: Inflation increases in July but remains mild

Latest reading: Inflation ticked up to 1.5% in July from June’s 1.4%. The reading was driven by rising price pressures for food and transportation. However, Taiwanese inflation remained low compared to rates in most Asian economies.

The trend pointed down slightly, with annual average inflation coming in at 1.9% in July (June: 2.0%).

Finally, consumer prices increased 0.36% in July over the previous month, accelerating from the 0.14% rise logged in June. July’s figure marked the highest reading since January.
