Cyprus: Consumer prices remain unchanged in September compared to a year earlier

Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices were stable in annual terms in September, following a flat reading in the prior month.

Relative to the prior month’s data, there were higher price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (-2.0% on a year-on-year basis vs -2.3% in August), transportation (-1.9% vs -2.2% in August), housing and utilities (-3.8% vs -4.0% in August) and recreation (+5.6% vs +4.9% in August). In contrast, there were reduced price pressures for restaurants and hotels (+4.9% vs +5.3% in August).

Meanwhile, consumer prices were down 0.6% in September, following a 0.9% fall in the prior month.

Finally, harmonized consumer prices fell 0.41% in September in month-on-month terms, following a 0.81% rise in the previous month.
