Austria: Industrial output deteriorates in May

Latest reading: Industrial output fell 0.7% in month-on-month seasonally adjusted terms in May, which was a worse than April’s 0.6% decrease. The sharper drop was largely due to a deterioration in durable consumer goods production. In contrast, capital goods production contracted at a softer pace.

On an annual basis, industrial output decreased 0.1% in May, matching April’s fall and marking the worst result since December 2024. The trend remained downbeat, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 2.0% in May, up marginally from April’s minus 2.3% reading.
