Wealthsimple has chosen Eventus to provide trade surveillance capabilities using the Validus platform, as the Canadian financial services firm scales its compliance operations across a growing range of asset classes and business lines.
The deployment of Validus comes as Wealthsimple manages more than $50 billion in client assets and serves over three million users across trading, saving, and investing. The platform will support Wealthsimple’s oversight requirements in a high-volume environment spanning multiple asset classes.
“We have a diversified business model in Canada”
Lia Mathiesen, Senior Director, Compliance and Chief Compliance Officer at Wealthsimple, commented, “We have a diversified business model in Canada, so we needed a compliance solution that could support our various business lines and handle a range of asset classes. It also had to be flexible enough to meet our data and operational needs. Working with Eventus allows us to enhance our account supervision and support our compliance efforts.”
Travis Schwab, CEO of Eventus, added, “Eventus supports many of the world’s largest retail-focused financial services platforms. As one of Canada’s leading platforms for retail investors, Wealthsimple has been extraordinarily successful at thinking outside the box and providing innovative solutions to its clients. We’re delighted to work with Lia and the Wealthsimple team to help meet the company’s regulatory needs, and as we build further on our client base in Canada and globally.”
Eventus has expanded its global presence in recent months, adding clients in trade surveillance, algorithmic monitoring, and market risk management across North America, EMEA, and the Asia-Pacific region. Its clients include exchanges, broker-dealers, trading firms, FCMs, and buy-side participants.
The company plans to launch a new AI initiative in 2025, integrating large language model technology to advance its Validus platform. These enhancements will continue to support clients operating in complex and regulated trading environments.
Wealthsimple’s adoption of Validus marks a strategic investment in automated compliance infrastructure, aligning with the firm’s broader focus on scalable technology and regulatory readiness as it continues to expand its financial services offering in Canada.
EDX Markets Deployed Eventus Validus
EDX Markets recently deployed the Eventus Validus platform for trade surveillance on its marketplace backed by a consortium of prominent Wall Street firms.
Combining an institution-only digital asset trading venue with a central clearinghouse to minimize risk, EDX has been enhancing its capabilities with top-tier trading solutions providers, namely Adaptive for a bespoke cloud-based clearinghouse. As institutional players give in to the meme coin craze, EDX added support for SHIB and DOGE last month.
With EDX on board, nearly 20 digital asset venues across the globe now rely on Eventus for their trade surveillance.
