Switzerland: Consumer prices are unchanged in June

Latest reading: Consumer prices were flat year on year in June, contrasting May’s 0.1% year-on-year decline and market expectations for a drop. Price pressures in Switzerland are among the world’s lowest, thanks to the country’s ingrained low inflation expectations and limited wage growth.

Annual average inflation fell to 0.5% in June (May: 0.6%). Meanwhile, core inflation ticked up to 0.6% in June from the previous month’s 0.5%.

Lastly, consumer prices rose 0.18% from the previous month in June, following the 0.14% rise seen in May. June’s result marked the highest reading since February.
