Switzerland: Inflation remains minimal in July
Latest reading: Inflation inched up to 0.2% in July, slightly above June’s 0.1% and market expectations of 0.1%. Prices rose in restaurants and hotels, clothing and footwear, housing and energy, communication, and recreation and culture. In contrast, they fell for food, transport, furnishing, and healthcare.
Annual average inflation fell to 0.4% in July (June: 0.5%). Meanwhile, core inflation ticked up to 0.8% in July from the previous month’s 0.6%.
Finally, consumer prices fell 0.04% over the previous month in July, swinging from the 0.18% rise recorded in June. July’s result marked the weakest reading since January.
