Indonesia: Retail sales growth rises in June
Latest reading: Retail sales expanded 2.0% in year-on-year terms in June, which was above May’s 1.9% increase. Food, beverages, and tobacco sales grew at a softer rate in June, and cultural and recreation goods sales dropped at a sharper rate. Meanwhile, sales of automotive fuels plus motor vehicles, parts and accessories gathered steam. Moreover, information and communication equipment sales contracted at a softer pace than in May.
Meanwhile, annual average retail sales growth fell to 2.5% in June (May: +2.6%), signaling a worsening trend in the retail trade sector.
