Indonesia: Retail sales growth ebbs in August

Latest reading: Retail sales expanded 2.7% compared to the same month a year earlier in August, which was a deterioration from July’s 4.7% increase. August’s slowdown was partly due to weaker readings for food, beverages, and tobacco plus IT sales.

Meanwhile, annual average retail sales growth fell to 2.2% in August (July: +2.5%). This signals a worsening trend in the retail trade sector.
