Hong Kong: Retail sales deteriorate in June
Latest reading: Retail sales slid 0.3% year on year in June (May: +1.9% yoy). Fuel, supermarkets, clothing and food sales all contracted in June. Still, June’s data was the second-best reading in over a year, and hints at an incipient recovering in goods spending following fourteen consecutive months of contractions up to April 2025.
Meanwhile, the trend improved notably, with the annual average variation of retail sales coming in at minus 7.1%, up from May’s minus 8.0%.
