Greece: Inflation slows in September from August

Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices rose 1.8% in annual terms in September, following a 3.1% rise in the previous month.

Relative to the prior month’s figures, there were milder price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+1.4% on a year-on-year basis vs +2.6% in August), housing and utilities (+1.4% vs +4.7% in August), recreation (+1.1% vs +2.4% in August) and restaurants and hotels (+2.7% vs +4.4% in August). In contrast, price pressures were higher for transportation in September (+2.4% vs +2.3% in August).

Meanwhile, consumer prices increased 1.9% in annual terms in September, following a 2.9% rise in the previous month.

Lastly, harmonized consumer prices were up 0.54% in September on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.63% decline in the prior month.
