France: Inflation rises in September from the prior month
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices increased 1.1% in annual terms in September, following a 0.8% rise in the previous month.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, there were higher price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+1.9% in annual terms vs +1.8% in August) and transportation (+0.7% vs -0.3% in August). In contrast, there were milder price pressures for housing and utilities (-0.8% vs -0.7% in August), recreation (+0.7% vs +1.2% in August) and restaurants and hotels (+2.2% vs +2.4% in August).
Meanwhile, consumer prices rose 1.2% on a year-on-year basis in September, following a 0.9% rise in the previous month.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices fell 1.06% in September on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.48% increase in the previous month.
