Aptos Labs and Universal Destinations & Experiences today announced the launch of Backlot Club, a Web3-powered fan engagement platform that connects Universal fans across destinations, games, and digital collectibles. Built on the Aptos blockchain, Backlot Club is already gaining traction: fans are sharing their enthusiasm online, creating community-driven tutorials, and showcasing the platform as a new benchmark for mainstream entertainment adoption of Web3.
At Halloween Horror Nights 2025, Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood introduced an interactive, blockchain-powered quest through Backlot Club. Guests explored the parks in search of horror-themed interactive towers, collecting medallions that unlocked exclusive rewards; from on-chain digital collectibles to limited-edition physical trading cards. Each reward claim is verified and immutably recorded on Aptos with status, timestamp, and metadata, creating a seamless bridge between digital fandom and real-world experiences.
Universal Destinations & Experiences is joining a growing set of innovators shaping next-generation media experiences with Watchee, a decentralized operating system for media built on Aptos and powered by Shelby’s high-performance storage layer. Watchee is designed to rethink how media assets, access, and fan engagement flow across platforms, creating an open foundation where studios, creators, and fans connect through on-chain infrastructure.
