MIDBANK has completed a full replacement of its legacy systems using Temenos’ core banking platform, marking a major milestone in its ongoing modernization program. The transition supports Egypt’s Vision 2030 strategy and reflects the bank’s aim to offer next-generation digital services across the country.
The go-live included Temenos Core, Payments Hub, Financial Crime Mitigation, and Data Hub, and was executed using a single-step ‘big bang’ approach. MIDBANK decommissioned its previous systems and activated the new Temenos platform in one coordinated transition.
“We turned off the light on one system, and turned on the light on another”
Amr El-Garhy, CEO and Managing Director of MIDBANK, commented, “We turned off the light on one system, and turned on the light on another. It was a bold decision, but we were well prepared. Temenos was attentive at the moments that really mattered. They stayed close to the project and showed genuine commitment to our success. Powered by Temenos, MIDBANK is well-positioned to shape the future of digital banking in Egypt.”
MIDBANK has already recorded operational gains from the new system, including reduced transaction processing times, greater efficiency, and improved customer satisfaction. The bank now plans to expand its digital capabilities by launching new customer channels through Temenos Digital and exploring artificial intelligence-based solutions with tools such as Temenos Product Manager Copilot.
Santhosh Rao, Managing Director for Middle East and Africa at Temenos, said, “MIDBANK’s successful go-live is a strong example of how Temenos helps financial institutions modernize with confidence. Our proven delivery capability, combined with our innovative and adaptable platform, enabled a smooth and timely transition. MIDBANK is now equipped to deliver modern, efficient, and customer-centric banking services.”
Temenos’ track record in Egypt, local market expertise, and network of partners were central to the implementation. ITSS supported the deployment phase, while DXC led testing. The project aligns with national goals to promote financial inclusion and technology-led economic development.
Founded over 50 years ago, MIDBANK is now positioned to play a stronger role in Egypt’s digital finance ecosystem, building on a modernized core banking system and expanding into new digital and AI-powered services.
